Old Tucson Studios

We were really looking forward to going to the park. Hayli woke up in a great mood, but she was so comfy in her Marriott bed that she was contemplating staying there all day.Hayli thought she would use her newly acquired skill of calling room service..."Mama... they are asking what room we are in..."We were excited to arrive at the Tucson Studios. We all took a ride in the stagecoach...Hayli enjoyed the can-can show. She liked that there was so much movement and excitement!

Some of the shows didn't keep Hayli's interest. Good thing there were rocks! (how often can you say that?)

Mama really wanted to get photos old fashion-styled, so we did that after one of the shows. Here Dada and Hayli are waiting
to get the photo taken.
It may have been Oma's birthday celebration, but it seemed like Hayli got what she wanted... a carousel ride...

Hayli was allowed to be the driver of a car!
And a train ride too!The park had horses that could take you on a trail ride, but we thought Hayli may have to wait until she is a little bit older...We had some ice cream for dessert! YUMMY!

Before leaving the park, Hayli tried on some hats. "No mama... I don't like these!" Nobody can say that Hayli doesn't know what she wants or doesn't want. =0)

Happy Birthday Oma!

Going to Tucson

Oma's birthday was on Tuesday, and we enjoyed a dinner at Uno's on her actual birthday. But we asked her what she would like to do on the weekend. (Conrad and Opa had Friday off - so it should be taken advantage of!) Oma wanted to go somewhere. At first she didn't know where to go, because she didn't want to go too far from home. In the end, she decided on Tucson, AZ. It should be a great little get-away. We are all looking forward to a little vacation.

While we drove to Tucson, we saw many neat things! These cool rock formations near the road were on was one of them.

We saw "dust devils" along the way too! I looked up what these were online...

"
If you are driving around town, and you see a plume of swirling dust rising up from the desert floor, you have just witnessed a dust devil. According to the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, a dust devil is "an almost self-sustaining whirlwind that maintains a funnel-like chimney through which hot air moves both upward and circularly." Dust devils are not tornadoes and are much smaller and less dangerous. Still, they can move pretty fast, and you don't want to be in their path or breathing the dust that is kicked up by the dust devil. They will usually last only several seconds, but they can last longer. It is common to see several dust devils, one after the other, and you are most likely to see them when it is especially hot, and in open desert areas or flat areas." (http://phoenix.about.com/library/bldustdevil.htm)

These "dust devils" can be pretty neat to watch though... In the video, you have to watch closely to see the dust devil (sorry that you can see my hand in the reflection - try to ignore it).

Some hillsides were covered in cacti.

Hayli was so happy to be at the hotel. The first thing she did was "fluff" the pillows.Yep, much better!!!

Next order of business? Room service. What can I say? The baby has class!Hayli & Dada deciding what to order...What did Hayli end up ordering? You guessed it - Mac & Cheese!

The Dentist

Today Hayli went to the dentist... she loves going here (the first time we came we didn't even get to see the dentist - see past blog). Hayli loved the computer console they had at the dentist office. "Dada, I need one of these!" =0)They have a great indoor playground for the kiddos. Hayli really enjoyed that.

Hayli really didn't like the oral examination, so I refrained from videoing the entire event (it was hard though). The dentist (Dr. Lee) was super nice, but his news wasn't so nice. Remember when Hayli ripped that tissue in her mouth on my birthday? Well, it grew back irregularly and now Hayli will have to undergo surgery. Good news? She won't have to do it until she is 2 or 3 - otherwise her front permanent teeth will come in with a gap! The best news of the day? Dr. Lee said that Hayli's teeth look great and that we are 'doing everything right' (besides letting Hayli fall and rip that little bit of tissue), and now Hayli has eight very clean and shiny teeth!!! She got her teeth cleaned and got a flouride treatment. Hayli received a "Certificate of Bravery" and a free lunch at Chick-fil-A.

Woof

Hayli loves her doggies... it is so fun to watch them interact!

Swing!

Hayli loved the swings the first time we put her on them, but since then it has been touch and go on the swing. Today, it appears that Hayli's fear has dissipated. Of course, her friends Alana and Liam probably helped out a bit!

Playground

Today we went to the playground to meet up with some of Hayli's friends. We went to the wrong one at first, but we stayed for a bit before realizing something was wrong. Ever since grandpa taught Hayli how to go up stairs, she is completely fascinated by stairs. Hayli was a bit cautious this morning (for once) and only climbed the very first step at the playground.

Hayli loves slides... she could hardly wait so I could capture it on video!

White Sands with Beth

Beth's stay was really short, but we had a blast with Beth and her family. Today we went to White Sands before Beth and her family headed off to Roswell. I already miss them!!!
Hayli off on her own...

The girls...Hayli went down with mommy once...
Daddy & Hayli went down the dunes several times.

We didn't want them to leave. =0(
