Hayli's Surgery (OUCH)

Today was really hard on me (probably more so than on Hayli). Hayli had surgery today... here is a glimpse...

At 6:47am Hayli was still sleeping, but I had to get her stuff in the car ready for her trip to the hospital.
At 7:14am we were on our way with a pit stop to Walgreens for Hayli's post-op medication. We arrived at the hospital at 7:25am (yep, a little early). A pre-op nurse, RN Yolanda, checked us into pre-op at 8:06am.Hayli was weighed and had her vitals taken. Hayli weighed in at 25lbs, and her oxygen level was normal (98%). Hayli did have a fever of 101.2 degrees, and her heart rate was high too (206 bpm). After calling the doctor and the anesthesiologist, the nurse said we were still a "go" on the surgery. Baby hospital beds are really quite scary...Nurse Yolanda gave Hayli a cocktail of Tylenol and Versed at 8:31am. By 8:45am, I could tell the sedative was working. This was probably the scariest part of it all. I could not keep my eyes from watering... sigh
After the sedative began to work, I changed Hayli into her hospital gown. Needless-to-say Hayli did not like it at all!!!After calming down a bit...At 9:04am, Dr. Gillihan stopped by to check on Hayli and for any last-minute questions. An O.R. nurse took Hayli and carried her into the O.R. No matter how much the nurse reassured me Hayli would be fine, I still wept like a baby. What can I say? They took my baby!I headed back to the waiting room to wait for the post-op nurses to call me into the recovery ward. I called Conrad and just finished reading the post-op paperwork when the nurses called me back. Hayli's surgery was complete at 9:23am - that was quick! Hayli was on oxygen for only a minute or so while she was waking up.
The post-op nurse (RN Lisa) was very nice. Hayli was not allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight, so it was great when Nurse Lisa gave Hayli some much needed diluted apple juice. Hayli was monitored, through a sticker that was placed on her foot, for her heart rate and oxygen level.

At 10:19am, Hayli was discharged and it was time to put her pajamas back on. Again, Hayli did not like the wardrobe change!
By 10:38am, Hayli and I were in the car on our way home. I gave Hayli her new Elmo toy, and as groggy as Hayli was - she seemed to enjoy her new toy! It was the first time I saw her right ear (after surgery the doctor put cotton swabs in her ears to catch the drainage). OUCH!
Hayli was still sleepy from the anesthesia... so she fell asleep on the way home.
Sleeping off the anesthesic at home.
Hayli slept on and off for four or five hours. Afterward, Hayli was quick to let us know that she was feeling much better. (Although she was considerably sensitive and cranky.) Since Hayli was running a fever, I changed her into her "I love Dad" onesie!Hayli needed some fresh air after being stuck at home all day. =0)

Hayli was happy when Conrad came home. It was time to play!

Hayli was allowed to have a bath tonight. I am sure she felt much better after the bath. You could definitely see where Hayli got her shot for pain after the surgery. It seemed like a weird place to give her a shot (in her right shoulder)!Hayli is really a tough cookie. I am so glad that things turned out okay... Now for a good night's sleep!!!

Gymnastics

Today was Hayli's first class in her 2-3 year old gymnastics class. It went okay. Hayli really enjoyed herself. I was so worried she wouldn't be able to do anything that I forgot to take photos. Here is Hayli exhausted but trying to do the obstacle. She was successful before but Hayli was pretty darn tired by this point...

Shoe on her Foot

On the way home from the show, I told Hayli to put her shoe on her foot. Here is her response... LOL

Sesame Street Live - Elmo's Green Thumb

Conrad & I got Hayli tickets to the Sesame Street Live show in El Paso. It went a lot better than expected. First, we thought we would introduce Hayli to some of the characters... Believe it or not, there are a lot of characters that Sasame Street added since Conrad & I watched the show as kids!

Hayli waiting for the show to start.

We didn't think that Hayli would tolerate 2 hours of a live show, but Hayli loved the singing and dancing! She danced and clapped her way through the entire show!!! Some of the photos turned out dark because we weren't allowed to use flash photography!

Easter Morning

This Easter was Hayli's second Easter. Last Easter Hayli was only 2 months old, so she was able to enjoy this year a little more!

Hayli's Moeke sent Easter surprises (the Easter Bunny took the smaller ones and put them in the small eggs). The Easter Bunny also brought his own bigger eggs! Hayli did so well getting all her eggs this morning!

Hayli insisted on opening her own eggs... she even gave her surprise doggy a kiss. How sweet!

Lovin' the stroller that Moeke and Grandpa got her...

Hayli carries a lot of items with a handle like a purse. Here she is with the basket from the Easter Bunny!

Yummy Belgian Easter chocolates!

Easter Egg Hunt at Young Park

Today we went to the Young Park Easter Egg Hunt. While we were waiting, Hayli was preoccupied with her monkey backpack. Here we are in what is believed to be a 'line' to begin the Easter Egg Hunt.

Hayli is waiting for the gentleman to tell her to go get those eggs!
The egg "hunt" was a lot of fun. Here, it was more an egg dash and not so much an egg hunt! I just wish that the parents would let the kids do the hunt. It seemed to be a competition of which child could get the most eggs (even though the parents were actually the ones doing it). I was proud that Hayli got the six eggs she got all by herself!!!

Hayli showing off the eggs she got all on her own!

There was a fire truck too... I guess Hayli thought it needed an extra siren!
Hayli was exhausted after a full day of fun!

Hayli wore the dress that Oma got for her today for the Easter festivities. She enjoyed twirling in it!!!
