The Alpaca

Today Hayli, Hana, and I went to the Alpaca Farm. When we got out of the car, Hayli was very afraid of the large animals. "No mama... scared. Don't want it!" Well, that didn't last long...

Mr. Bruce, the owner, is really nice and showed us the place. Mr. Bruce introduced the kids to the most recent addition to his alpaca farm. Hayli took a lot of turns petting the sweet baby.

Mr. Bruce also has a camel, named Sara, on his farm!
There was also a horsie!
Needless-to-say, Hayli did NOT want to go home!!!

Hana's 2 Month Appointment

Today was Hana's 2 month doctor appointment. Hana was asleep when we arrived to the appointment. I must mention that we were on time (a rarity now). First, Hana was weighed and measure. She weighed 11 pounds 10 ounces (5.25 kg) and measured 23 inches (58.4 cm) long. She is now in the 75th percentile (up from the 50th percentile at her 1 month doctor appointment) for both her height and weight. Hana's doctor, Dr. Settles, examined Hana, and was happy with Hana's progression both physically and mentally. Dr. Settles mentioned that Hana does have a belly button (or umbilical cord) hernia. I just thought it was an outie belly button. If it doesn't fix itself, surgery is required. We will just have to watch it, and hopefully it will fix itself. I took some pictures of Hana's hernia after we got home just to show what it looks like now.The nurse came in and gave Hana her one oral immunization and her three "cocktail" shots. Hana cried, and turned beat red, until the nurse was done administering the shots. After a minute of the nurse holding her, Hana settled down and relaxed. Hana's legs are still sore and we are giving her pain reliever. Hana is a tough cookie, and survived her first shot appointment with flying colors!

Hana is 2 Months Old!

Today Hana is officially two months old. I can't believe how time is flying by us! Dada and I measured Hana at 22.5 inches (57 cm) and weighing 11 pounds 9.2 ounces (5.25 kg) tonight. We will see what the doctor says on Tuesday! Hana moves her head from one side to the other when she is on her belly now. She LOVES to eat and sleep! (A girl after my own heart!) Hana is a calm baby most of the time. I look forward to when I can sit her somewhere and she can entertain herself for a minute or two. Love you baby girl!

Froggies

Every week Hayli learns something new in her froggies swim class. Each lesson leaves me tired and amazed. Hayli really is a great swimmer! Maybe one day she will be an Olympian swimmer! What can I say? I dream big for myself and husband... why wouldn't I dream big for my kids?

El Paso Zoo

Today we dropped Hana off at Oma's house and went to the zoo with Hayli, mainly because Clifford the Big Red Dog was going to be there. We met up with Hayli's friend Tristan and his family. When we got to the zoo, we asked about the Clifford event, but nobody knew what we were talking about. I told Conrad that I knew I wasn't crazy because PBS had been advertising this event for weeks... We decided that we drove all that way, we were going to enjoy the zoo nonetheless. Some of the animals were not such a hit with Hayli. She really did not like the big animals like the lions, sea lions, and elephants... There were some good ones though, like the meerkats. The meerkats just had babies on the 23rd of March, so they were in a special observation cage.
We ate lunch with the monkeys... Charles (Tristan's dad) was a bird droppings victim. I guess that is the risk you take when you eat lunch under a tree -- especially at the zoo!
Hayli really liked the tortoises and the sand cats. She named the tortoise Tuck, because Tuck is the turtle on Wonder Pets. Hayli thought that the sand cats were "really cute".
Hayli's least favorite part? Why, Clifford the Big Red Dog of course! LOL!!! Yes, he was there afterall, but Hayli didn't want anything to do with him! Poor Clifford!!!

Open Gym

This morning we went to open gym. I know that the day is coming when Hayli asks for her own trapoline... for that she will have to ask Grandpa. He bought Tante and me our trampoline when we were little. =0)
