Going to LA - Day 2

Day 2 - Thursday, 2 October 2008

"Wake up mama!" Hayli decided that we should all get up at 5:30
NM time. Needless-to-say, we were hoping for a little more sleep than that!

Hayli liked playing on the bed at LaQuinta. I think she was just happy to be out of her car seat. What a cutie pie!

We tried to make the trip a little fun for Hayli by doing little things. Things like playing "Trolley Ride". She really enjoyed that a lot!

Since Hayli would need to stretch after some time in the car, we decided to have a little small something at the LaQuinta before we left. Once we got to Phoenix, AZ, we figured we would eat a 'real breakfast'. It is a good thing that LaQuinta's bed are more comfortable than the breakfast was good. The breakfast consisted of sourdough waffles (yuck) and frozen hard-boiled eggs (double yuck).

The LaQuinta had some really nice flowered trees out front. I had to get some photos of dada with Hayli and the flowers! Hayli is a natural in front of the camera. Good thing she is used to it with a mama like me, huh? LOL!

Here was the route we took to Los Angeles (you can click on the map to make it bigger):

The trip was long, so Hayli and Oma took advantage and caught up on some sleep. Awww!

When Hayli continued to sleep, we decided to let her sleep until she woke up. So, we drove through Phoenix, AZ. And we drove and waited, and drove and waited, and drove some more... right past breakfast and straight to lunch!

Sleeping beauty decided to wake up around 11:30.

Welcome to California.

Not much to see from the highway...

I thought it was pretty neat that Denton, CA had set up all these wind generators. They look pretty cool from the highway.

Of course, Hayli missed it by sleeping... but at least she was a really good baby. On a side note, Hayli's hair has been growing like a weed! I could not help myself but video her hair blowing this way and that way!

There was so much driving that even Hayli had a turn! JK

Here is some of the craziness Conrad had to deal with in Los Angeles. YIKES... Good thing Conrad got some defensive driving practice in Brussels!

"So tired mama!" We had dinner at El Torito, a Mexican restaurant, it was really nice because it was good food and right on the harbor.

Hayli was so exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel that we didn't even put her pajamas on for sleeping. Poor thing!
